Shots fired at Cedar Park

The Lake City Police Department is seeking help in identifying shooting suspects at Cedar Park Apartments. According to an LCPD release, officers responded to a call at 12:41 a.m. Tuesday about shots fired at the apartment complex.

The Columbia County Sheriff’’s Office School Resource Unit is the best in the state. The division was honored Monday at the annual Florida Association of School Resource Officers conference when it was selected as the agency of the year.

Covid cases have doubled; vaccine rates still lagging

The Columbia County Health Department wants you — or anybody else — to consider receiving the covid-19 vaccine. According the Florida Department of Health’s weekly update Friday, there were 279 new cases in the county over the previous week — from July 16-22.

Three children suffer minor injuries in ATV crash

Three local children escaped serious injury but were still taken to a hospital for observation Monday afternoon when the four-wheeler they were riding rolled-over and landed on top of them. The incident occurred Monday afternoon around 2 p.m. at a NW Whitney Glen address.

Third charged in overdose death

A Lake City man became the third person arrested in the past week for their role in an overdose fatality last year. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, after nearly a year-long investigation, arrested 29-year-old Zachary Johnson, of Lake City, on Thursday, charging him with manslaughter.
