LONGWOOD — Two Lake City workers were among nine Waste Pro employees recognized for two decades of service to the company.

Roughly three months into construction on the Florida Gateway College’s new STEM building and an additional $6.1 million from the legislature will change some of the project’s scope. Construction on the project began March 6 and Gray Construction Services, Inc.

For close to 100 years, the Columbia County Woman’s Club has served the community through its motto: “Meet in Love, Dwell in friendship and Depart in Peace.” Through the years the organization held its meetings in a building that was christened as the Community and Columbia County Woman’s Club.

A day they’ve looked forward to from the beginning of their educational career unfolded for more than 400 Columbia High School seniors Friday night when they walked across the stage and received their high school diplomas.

From volunteers cleaning up Oaklawn Cemetery and the shores of local lakes to city workers picking up trash along local streets, the cleanup bug was evident in Lake City on Saturday.
