Woman charged with theft of partner’s safe

A Lake City woman has found out that what is your partner’s is not necessarily yours.  The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office originally arrested Cathy Lynn Stiles, 55, on March 12 and charged her with simple battery that occurred during a domestic violence incident, according to the CCSO website.

Suwannee County sheriffs arrested an O’Brien man after leading authorities on an unusual high-speed chase.  Phillip Wade Parker, 42, was driving an all-terrain vehicle on 89th road without any lights on at roughly 10:23 p.m.

Carpooling coworker pulls gun on driver

A Lake City man’s attempt to scare a carpooling coworker led to his arrest Monday morning when authorities said he flashed a gun to the other worker and then chased them through the business establishment.

STEAM break: Library offering educational kits for students on spring break

While enjoying spring break, Columbia County public school students can also participate in a STEAM Break. The Columbia County Public Library is providing three kits next week so students will be able to take part in hands-on educational exercises while they are away from school.

County officials say they will deal with Confederate issue

If the Confederate monument is left up to them, county officials say they won’t run from the issue. City of Lake City officials announced Monday a legal opinion claims downtown Olustee Park — home to the Battle of the Olustee Confederate monument — is Columbia County property.
