Working in ‘Harmony’: Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch camp promoting teamwork, leadership skills

The Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch mobile summer camp rolled into town earlier this week providing a variety of activities for local youngsters promoting team building, leadership and other self-esteem building skills.

Kerfuffle at City Hall: Warren, Jeffersons get into verbal spat following meeting

The fireworks erupted moments after the Lake City City Council meeting adjourned Monday night when local activist Sylvester Warren had heated words for veteran city councilman Eugene Jefferson.

Projects granted: City, county both receive $750K grant funding from state

Rehabilitation and revitalization efforts in Columbia County and Lake City received a helping hand Monday. Both the city and county were named recipients of $750,000 in Florida Small Cities Community Development Block Grant funding. The grant awards were announced Monday by Gov.

Henry suspended, under investigation

Lake City’s longtime public works director has been temporarily removed from his position. Ami Mitchell Fields, the interim city manager, said Monday night that Corey Williams has been named the acting public works director pending an investigation into Thomas Henry.

LSHA lacks quorum

The future of the Lake Shore Hospital won’t be decided anytime soon. The Lake Shore Hospital Authority board canceled its regular meeting Monday night due to a lack of a quorum after Mark Thompson resigned his position on the board.

Show of thanks: First Responders enjoy free appreciation luncheon

Alongside barbecue and sides, First Responders were served a heaping helping of appreciation Friday. GulfCoast Financial and the Lake City Reporter partnered to provide a free lunch to First Responders on Friday, serving approximately 150-175 during the two-hour event in downtown Lake City.
