Fields uncertain on future with city

For nearly a month, the City of Lake City daily operations have been overseen by Ami Mitchell Fields, interim city manager, who has been tasked with overseeing the budget, lifting employee morale and hiring people to fill key leadership positions in the city.

Adams named CEO at LCMC

Lake City Medical Center’s top executive is a familiar face. Jill Adams, the chief financial officer of the hospital for more than 20 years, officially was appointed LCMC’s chief executive officer on Friday, effective immediately.

Shots fired at Cedar Park

The Lake City Police Department is seeking help in identifying shooting suspects at Cedar Park Apartments. According to an LCPD release, officers responded to a call at 12:41 a.m. Tuesday about shots fired at the apartment complex.

State’s best SROs: CCSO unit named FASRO’s Agency of the Year.

The Columbia County Sheriff’’s Office School Resource Unit is the best in the state. The division was honored Monday at the annual Florida Association of School Resource Officers conference when it was selected as the agency of the year.

Covid cases have doubled; vaccine rates still lagging

The Columbia County Health Department wants you — or anybody else — to consider receiving the covid-19 vaccine. According the Florida Department of Health’s weekly update Friday, there were 279 new cases in the county over the previous week — from July 16-22.
