The newest Lake City councilor may be known in little more than a week. The Lake City Council agreed at its Monday meeting on the process for appointing newest council member to fill the unexpired District 14 city council post.

Good Samaritan arrested after fleeing from police

Trying to help someone move their belongings, the would-be Good Samaritan instead was arrested Sunday night on a handful of charges after running from authorities. According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy spotted a gray Dodge pickup around 9:20 p.m.

LCPD searching for ‘Unity in the community’

Hover boards, bicycles and “Unity in the Community” are some of the prizes being offered Tuesday night by the Lake City Police Department. The National Night Out event will take place Tuesday night from 6-9 p.m. in the parking lot south of the Lake City Police and Fire Departments.

Siegmeister seeks plea deal; feds back off seizing land

JACKSONVILLE — The former State Attorney’s extortion and bribery case won’t go to trial until next year, if it does at all. A U.S. District Court judge for the Middle District of Florida granted a continuance in the trial Thursday that Jeff Siegmeister requested earlier this week.

LIVE OAK — The Lake City Reporter and the Suwannee County Chamber of Commerce have partnered to produce the Chamber’s annual “Impact” membership and information guide. This year’s magazine is 124 color pages and was released this week.

One killed in U.S. 41/SR 47 crash

A Lake City woman was killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle accident on the south end of Lake City. According to release issued by the Lake City Police Department on Friday, a white GMC pickup and a blue Honda hatchback collided in the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and State Road 47 around 9 a.m.
