Home struck by gunfire late Wednesday

A home in northeastern Lake City was struck by gunfire Wednesday night, although nobody was injured. According to the Lake City Police Department, officers responded to four separate reports of gunfire in the northeastern area of the city between 8:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Horsing around is now encouraged. At least it will be on Saturday. The Gala of the Royal Horses, a showcase featuring some of the most storied and celebrated horses in the international equestrian community, will make its Lake City debut on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m.

Goss, FPF cracking open ‘Pink Peanut Soiree’

Peanuts are lots of things. They can be used in a variety of ways and are quite plentiful in the south. But for all the legumes are, they generally aren’t fun and exciting. At least not until Laura Fowler Goss, the Branford-based executive director of the Florida Peanut Federation got involved.

County eyes Richardson agreement

More than 100 people poured into the Columbia County School Board Administrative Complex Auditorium Tuesday evening, with the majority of them urging county commissioners to keep the Richardson Community Center open.

Lewis murder trial resumes Thursday

Columbia County’s earliest roots shows a strong relationship and bond with the agriculture industry. While the bond may not be as visible in modern times, local residents recognize the importance of agriculture in the county’s history and its future.
