COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Florida St. moves to top of ACC after stopping Miami's rally

CORAL GABLES — Caleb Mills scored 16 points, Anthony Polite scored 15 and Florida State withstood a furious second-half Miami rally to beat the Hurricanes 61-60 on Saturday and take control atop the Atlantic Coast Conference. Miami's Isaiah Wong missed a contested fadeaway jumper at the buzzer.

BOYS BASKETBALL: Broxey's big night leads Columbia to big win over The Villages

Columbia needs quality wins to make a playoff push. The Tigers got a big one on Friday night. Isaac Broxey caught fire early and finished strong, tying his career high of 25 points to lead Columbia past The Villages Charter 70-66 at home.

GIRLS WEIGHTLIFTING: Suwannee wins fourth straight district title

LIVE OAK — Another year, another district title — or two — for the Suwannee girls weightlifting team. The defending Class 1A state champion Bulldogs won the District 4-1A title Friday in both the traditional event — bench and clean and jerk — as well as the snatch event in dominating fashion.

FALL ALL-AREA: Oliver named LCR's Volleyball Player of the Year

Brandi Oliver’s goals were lofty, even for someone of her athletic prowess. The Columbia senior said she, her teammates and their coaches had their sights set on an achievement not seen at the school since 2012 — making it through districts and reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2012.
