PREP BASEBALL: Todd, Howard lead Columbia past Union County with their arms and bats

Truitt Todd wasn’t happy with his pitching performance at all against Union County. “I pitched pretty horribly actually. Not great. I didn’t have any of my good stuff, that’s for sure,” Todd said. But the senior pitcher had just enough to deliver Columbia a fifth straight win.

BOYS WRESTLING: Musgrove places third to lead Suwannee at state; Rice takes seventh for Columbia

KISSIMMEE — The Suwannee High wrestling program isn’t all the way back. But the Bulldogs took another step at the Class 1A state meet at the Silver Spurs Arena this past weekend, finishing 10th as a team with five wrestlers placing in the top eight of their weight classes.

COLLEGE FISHING: FGC duo wins MLF Abu Garcia College Fishing tournament

GUNTERSVILLE, Ala.— The Florida Gateway College duo of Seth Slanker and Jackson Swisher won the MLF Abu Garcia College Fishing tournament Presented by YETI event on Lake Guntersville on Friday with a five-bass limit weighing 29 pounds, 12 ounces.

PREP FLAG FOOTBALL: Suwannee begins new season with new head coach Ted Frazier

LIVE OAK — By the time the season starts Tuesday, Suwannee will be used to pivoting and quick changes of direction. The Bulldogs lost head coach and program architect Ricky Hufty in January when he was named the head coach of Florida Gateway College’s start-up program.

WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Austin lifts Ole Miss over No. 23 Florida in SEC tournament

NASHVILLE, Tenn.— Two-time All-SEC center Shakira Austin scored 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Mississippi held off No. 23 Florida 70-60 Friday in the Southeastern Conference women's tournament quarterfinals. The fourth-seeded Rebels (23-7) now have won five of their last six.
