BOYS BASKETBALL: Columbia shows off potential as summer ball comes to a close

A busy month is finally over for Columbia. It went pretty well, too. The Tigers played 35 games since June, wrapping up shot clock league play at FGC with a loss to Orange Park on Thursday night.

PREP FOOTBALL: Recent success leads to some new faces on Branford's 2022 schedule

BRANFORD — When the process of assembling a schedule begins, Branford coach Tim Clark has three known quantities. Rivals Bell, Lafayette and Trenton will be on the slate, no matter what. Finishing up the Buccaneers’ schedule for this fall, though, provided a bit more work and challenges.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: ACC changing scheduling model in '23 and beyond

GREENSBORO, N.C.— The Atlantic Coast Conference is going forward with a plan to change its football scheduling model, with the biggest change being the elimination of divisions.

One official visit was all Amare Ferrell needed to make a college decision. One week after visiting Indiana, the Columbia senior defensive back verbally committed to the Hoosiers on Sunday night.

Columbia 4-star rated linebacker Jaden Robinson announced his top four schools on Sunday, narrowing down his choices to Maryland, Michigan, Kentucky and South Carolina. Robinson, a senior, has taken official visits so far to Maryland, South Carolina and Kentucky.

NHL: Avalanche dethrone Lightning to win Stanley Cup for 3rd time

TAMPA — Nathan MacKinnon could not find the words. Gabriel Landeskog cracked a smile and a joke. After years of playoff disappointments, the Colorado Avalanche are back atop hockey’s mountain after dethroning the two-time defending champions.
