New LO post office opens Monday

LIVE OAK — The long wait for a new post office is over. Live Oak’s new post office is scheduled to open Monday at the Live Oak Commons along U.S. Highway 129 North. The move comes after postal services were provided in the historic downtown location for more than 104 years.

LIVE OAK — Suwannee Lights at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is back and better than ever. The Christmas lights extravaganza opens today — one week earlier than normal — with fun, food and more than 6.5 million lights.

Sprowls weighs in on police, patriotism in House session

New Live Oak post office set to open Nov. 23

LIVE OAK — After more than 104 years, the historic Live Oak Post Office is down to its final week. Blair Beatty, the Live Oak postmaster, said Thursday the new post office is scheduled to open Nov. 23. It had previously been set to open Monday.

SVEC raises $5K for United Way with annual cornhole tourney

LIVE OAK — Thirty teams in two brackets raised more than $5,000 for the United Way of Suwannee Valley. Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative’s third annual Suwannee Valley Cornhole Tournament raised $5,028 for United Way, an increase of nearly $1,600 from last year.

Steak fight leads to jail for Suwannee pair

BRANFORD — Instead of serving as dinner, steaks became a weapon in a fight in southeastern Suwannee County on Tuesday night. According to the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office, Curtis Lorett, 44, and Kayla Lorett, 38, threw steaks at each other during a fight around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday.
