HIGH SPRINGS — Palms Medical Group staff collectively raised $4,259.28 in support of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer movement, an initiative by the American Cancer Society. Palms Medical’s fundraising effort took place during October, celebrated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

It wasn’t just cops on the beat for a two-night spree of holiday charity. Representatives from numerous state and local law enforcement agencies lined the front of the Live Oak Walmart for two nights last week.

Missing Suwannee teens found, rescued

TALLAHASSEE — A pair of missing Suwannee County teens were part of 43 children found and recovered during Operation Northern Lights. The multi-jurisdictional operation, led by the U.S. Marshals Service, rescued 43 children “critically missing” from 14 North Florida counties in December.

God’s Hidden Angels brighten Christmas for Suwannee kids

More than 400 Suwannee County children will have a merry Christmas thanks to God’s Hidden Angels. The group and the First Methodist Church of Live Oak distributed Christmas presents to 460 area children, the majority of which are in the homeless program in the Suwannee County School District.

Mississippi man dies in single-vehicle I-10 crash

A Mississippi man was killed when the SUV he was riding in crashed into a tree alongside Interstate 10 last week. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Miami man was headed east on Interstate 10 around 9:30 p.m. Thursday when he drove off the road near mile marker 284 just east of the U.S.

New homes within walking distance of the major growth area of Live Oak were being shown off to the Suwannee County Chamber of Commerce and interested residents earlier this month.
