Suwannee Sheriff’s Office may lose EOC control

Suwannee County is looking to take emergency management oversight away from the sheriff’s office. The Suwannee County Commission is hosting a special meeting Dec. 3 at the Judicial Annex, 218 Parshley Street SW, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Suwannee County prohibits outdoor burning

Suwannee County Fire Rescue is looking to extinguish any wild fires before they occur. Due to drought conditions throughout the county, SCFR, in conjunction with the Florida Forest Service and Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office - Division of Emergency Management is prohibiting outdoor burning.

O’Brien man charged for bat attack

O’BRIEN — An O’Brien man was arrested early Saturday morning after a literal hit and run. According to a Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies responded to County Road 249 in O’Brien after someone spotted two men running behind the O’Brien Feed Store around 4:50 a.m. Saturday.

Hatchet job lands woman in jail

SUWANNEE RANCHETTES — A Lake City woman was arrested last week after performing a hatchet job. A Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office report states Shelby Taylor, 29, hit someone’s car multiple times with a hatchet, leading to her arrest Nov. 19.

Bullock convicted of organized fraud

A Live Oak businessman will be sentenced early next year for defrauding customers out of more than $50,000. Jason Bullock, 32, was convicted Friday following a week-long trial on the charge of organized fraud of more than $50,000.

Lees dominate worlds again

JACKSBORO, Texas — Another year, another set of world championships for Suwannee County’s Lee HDC Ranching. At the Ericsson Memorial in Texas earlier this month, the Hangin’ Tree Cowdogs trained by Jared Lee and his family dominated the competition for the fourth straight year.
