IFAS looks for new crop of BMPs

UF/IFAS received $8.8 million to conduct new research that will provide farmers with new and improved recommendations for fertilization of key Florida crops. The funding, approved by the Florida Legislature, will be administered by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Pharmacy robber faces federal charges

JACKSONVILLE — After a string of local pharmacy robberies in early January, federal authorities said they finally have a man in custody that was responsible for at least one of them.

LIVE OAK — The Live Oak Freedom Festival has gone to the hot dogs. As part of the ninth annual event in downtown Live Oak on Monday to celebrate Independence Day, Rudy’s Dawgs of Live Oak is hosting a hot dog eating contest between local first responders. The contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Jackson sworn in, becomes 1st Black woman on Supreme Court

WASHINGTON — Ketanji Brown Jackson was sworn in to the Supreme Court on Thursday, shattering a glass ceiling as the first Black woman on the nation’s highest court. The 51-year-old Jackson is the court’s 116th justice, and she took the place of the justice she once worked for.
