FORT WHITE — Victoria Farrar just wanted to see him smile again. Battling cancer and the end nearing, the smile and joy for life had left her father-in-law, Mike Farrar. So early last Friday morning, Farrar racked her brain trying to come up with a solution for the 78-year-old U.S.

No arrests have been made and a shooting suspect remains on the loose following a Friday evening shooting near Youngs Park where a man was shot in the face.

The Lake City Council meetings will be on the move — both physically and virtually. After seven months of holding the meetings in the school board auditorium, city officials are planning to move city council meetings back to city hall in the coming weeks.

Friday afternoon the Florida Gateway Fairgrounds was mooooo-ving with activity. From pickup trucks towing trailers filled with cows, to youngsters washing and grooming cows — the area had become a mecca for bovine.

Shooting at Youngs Park

A shooting occurred Friday evening after 7 p.m. at the tennis courts at Youngs Park where one person was shot, according to the Lake City Police Department. The victim was driven to the Lake City Public Safety Building after the shooting.

Columbia High School honored its Class of 2021 on Thursday night. And there was plenty to celebrate as the senior class netted some $2.5 million worth of scholarships. “It was unbelievable the amount of money that was given out,” CHS Principal Trey Hosford said.

A popular covid-19 emergency order is now on tap permanently. Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law Thursday a bill that allows restaurants to sell alcoholic drinks with take-home meals.
