Thomas pulls out of Lake City search

The search for a chief administrator goes on for the City of Lake City. Thomas Thomas, the veteran municipal government manager the Lake City Council selected as its top candidate for its vacant city manager position, withdrew from consideration on Saturday.

Morgan named state’s top emergency director

An emergency management professional should always be prepared. So when a colleague had a dead battery Friday morning at the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association meeting, Shayne Morgan jumped into action by providing a jump start.

‘Broke’ woman helps herself ... to checks

Claiming to be broke, a Lake City woman didn’t reach out to family for help. Instead, authorities say she just grabbed some of their checks and helped herself. Kendall Arnold, 32, was arrested Thursday afternoon after a Lafayette County man reported being a victim of check fraud.
