10 contestants vying for ‘Golden Voice’ trophy Friday

After more than six months of wading through preliminary rounds, it’s almost time to find out who has the golden voice? Ten local vocalists are competing Friday for the top prize and honors in the final round of the 18th annual Columbia’s Top Talent competition, scheduled for 7 p.m.

TALLAHASSEE — The Third Judicial Circuit’s former state attorney is no longer an attorney. The Supreme Court of Florida granted a disciplinary revocation of Siegmeister’s license on Thursday. According to the court ruling, “disciplinary revocation is tantamount to disbarment.

College honoring Brannan as top alumnus

A longtime college trustee and current state representative will be honored by Florida Gateway College this week. During Friday’s commencement ceremonies in the Howard Center — 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. — Chuck Brannan will be recognized as the college’s Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.

The premier new home showcase returns to Lake City and Columbia County when the annual Parade of Homes weekend event returns on May 14-15. The event is sponsored by the Columbia County Builders Association and the Lake City Reporter. The showcase will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

A Lake City attorney will soon don a judge’s robe. Fred Koberlein Jr. is the lone candidate to qualify for Third Judicial Circuit Judge during the qualifying period that ended at noon Friday.
