An argument over a cell phone chip turned to gunfire Thursday evening, landing one Lake City man behind bars. Justin Take Fulton, 27, was arrested Thursday night after authorities say he shot off five rounds from a 9mm firearm in the parking lot of a Lake City motel.

Ichetucknee hosting ‘Dip Day’ Saturday

Ichetucknee Springs State Park will once again invite everyone to “dip” into the new year. The annual Iche Nippy Dip Day, a yearly plunge into the Ichetucknee River, will commence Saturday, Jan. 7, beginning at 9 a.m.

Furthering their education is about to get easier for local college students. Florida Gateway College and Santa Fe College will enter into five articulation agreements Friday to broaden the academic opportunities for students at both institutions.

Detours returning to roundabout

Detours are returning next week for the U.S. Highway 41 and Bascom Norris Drive roundabout. Due to construction on the roundabout, detours will be in place Sunday through Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Waffle House, vehicles hit by gunfire

More than the hashbrowns were scattered early Wednesday morning at Waffle House. According to the Lake City Police Department, gunfire struck the restaurant at 348 SW Baya Avenue just before 1 a.m., as well as a pair of vehicles. Nobody was injured.
