Richardson Community Center will soon be Columbia County property. Maybe. The Columbia County Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted Thursday to accept the deed to the facility on the north side of Lake City from the City of Lake City.

New fire station ‘very close’

The opening of Lake City’s newest fire station is expected to take place within the next month. “We’re very close,” said Lake City Fire Chief Josh Wehinger. “The generator is supposed to be sent possibly the first of next week, we’re waiting on a transfer switch.

A male juvenile was shot and killed at a Lake City apartment complex Wednesday evening. According to a Lake City Police Department release, officers responded to an apartment at Aspen Townhomes on NW Wayne Place at 6:13 p.m. where they found a male juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound.

Revolutionary War vet to be honored

A Revolutionary War veteran will be honored this weekend. The Lake City Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution is holding a grave-marking ceremony for Pvt. Theophilus Weeks at Price Creek Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Lake City Hall is no worse for the wear of the past four-plus years. During its reassessment of the structure in early January, Tetra Tech found that the “structural stability and facade conditions of the building generally remain the same” as its 2018 reports on the building.

FGC plans 12 summer youth camps
