Traffic impact studied by county

A planned 300-unit single-family residential development, along with a separate apartment complex in the planning stages, is expected to significantly increase the traffic volume along Bascom Norris Drive near the Southside Sports Complex.

Juvenile arrested after tossing gun during chase

A juvenile is in custody after a brief chase led to them allegedly throwing a gun to the ground. According to a Lake City Police Department release, investigators in unmarked vehicles were conducting patrols near NE Martin Luther King Jr. Street on Friday at 1:25 p.m.

Lawsuits could stop monument removal

TALLAHASSEE — Local governments would be blocked from removing historic monuments from public locations and could face lawsuits, under a controversial proposal that started to advance Wednesday in the Florida Senate.

A group of 10 local singers will be vying for the precious few five remaining spots in the second round of Columbia’s Top Talent contest later this week.

County purchases Lake City Reporter building

The Lake City Reporter building and property located at 180 E. Duval St., downtown, sold to Columbia County this week. The property sale closed officially on Monday.
