Charter school raises questions

The plans for Florida Gateway College’s charter school continue to progress, although they have also raised questions.

Firearms, money stolen from burglarized vehicles

The Lake City Police Department is looking into a recent string of vehicle burglaries in residential neighborhoods where people have reported firearms, cash and other miscellaneous items that were taken from their vehicles.

Murder suspect caught near Lake City

A Mississippi man wanted for murder in Gainesville was captured Thursday after a crash in Columbia County. According to a Gainesville Police Department release, officers responded at 2:39 a.m. Thursday to NW 16th Place to a report of a person shot.

FGC welcomes back students

The Florida Gateway College Charles W. Hall Student Center was a little busier than normal Wednesday morning. Wednesday was the first day of classes for the spring semester and college was hosting its welcome back event, which resulted in scores of students at the center for different services.

No decision on Circle K truck stop

A marathon Wednesday meeting to discuss a proposed expansion to the Circle K gas station at the U.S. Highway 90 and Interstate 75 intersection will have a Part 2.

LifeSouth celebrates Blood Donor Month

In time to celebrate National Blood Donor Month, the LifeSouth Community Blood Centers are also looking for donations. According to LifeSouth, blood shortages are impacting the local community so donors are needed to offset that, making this year’s celebration in January an important one.

Farm Share returning to LCPD

The Lake City Police Department will host a Farm Share event this weekend where it plans to give more than 20,000 pounds of food to local residents. The Farm Share distribution will begin at 8 a.m.

Dog shooting leads to arrest for LC man
