10 vie for Southside Idol crown

The sounds of 80s music, as well as gospel, rock and roll, country western and even hip hop, will fill the air this weekend during a singing competition. The 13th annual Southside Idol will take place 6 p.m. Saturday at the Florida Gateway College Levy Performing Arts Center.

LSHA, Meridian deal still pending

Deeding over the hospital on the Lake Shore campus will take at least a little longer as the Lake Shore Hospital Authority attempts to deal with one last piece of property holding up the transfer.

Columbia High opens ‘best track in the state’

Monday afternoon’s cool, breezy winds and overcast skies could do little to extinguish the jubilant feelings of local school board members, district administrators, track supporters and one zealous track coach who had a new nine-lane rubberized track under his feet.

Mobile home fire sends one to hospital

Lake City firefighters pulled a man from a burning mobile home Monday morning on NW Ridgewood Avenue. According to reports, the fire occurred around 11 a.m.

One injured in house fire

One person was flown to an area hospital after a house fire late Monday morning. According to a Lake City Police Department release, firefighters from the Lake City Fire Department entered the residence on NW Ridgewood Avenue around 11 a.m. and found one person inside.

Truck stop debate revving up

The fate of a proposed gas station expansion at the Interstate 75 and U.S. Highway 90 interchange will be determined by a city board this week.

Annual MLK parade scheduled

The North Florida Leadership Council plans to pay homage to the life, accomplishments and achievements of the slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. next week with the annual parade in his honor. The annual MLK Day Parade will take place Monday, Jan.
