Parade of Homes postponed to fall

The annual Parade of Homes event has been postponed until the fall, according to officials with the Columbia County Builders Association and the Lake City Reporter, co-sponsors of the event.

City celebrating Customer Service Appreciation Month

The City of Lake City is celebrating April as Customer Service Appreciation and Water Conservation Month. Each Friday during the month, with the exception of Good Friday, from 8-10 a.m.

Woman charged after chasing, hitting man with her car

Chasing after and hitting a man with her car last summer has caught up with a Lake City woman. Charnavia Criswell, 31, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for attempted second-degree murder after deliberately hitting a man in June at the intersection of Marion Avenue and Crescent Street.

HCA Lake City adds new operating tower

A hospital expansion announced more than two years ago received its first visitors Tuesday afternoon when the HCA Lake City Hospital held a ribbon cutting for the project.

House panel backs dissolving White Springs

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida House Ways and Means Committee backed a local representative’s push to hold the White Springs Town Council responsible for the town’s deteriorating financial condition and for bringing in illegal gambling operations.

Summers VPK recognized by CSD

The Summers Elementary School Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program could be the best VPK classroom in the state. Tuesday night school board members acknowledged the program for receiving a perfect score for two consecutive years — the only program in the state to receive such as honor.

Rebuilding Bascom Norris

A portion of Columbia County’s busiest roadway, Bascom Norris Drive, will be closing for an extended period as construction crews make improvements on the thoroughfare for the next few months.

Council approves pact with Meridian
