HURRICANE IAN UPDATE (2:10 p.m. Monday)
The Lake City Public Works Department will be providing sandbags to city residents in preparation for Hurricane Ian.
City residents may begin picking up sandbags — limit of 10 bags per vehicle — starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday. Hours to pick up sandbags is from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The city’s public works department is located at 180 NE Gumswamp Road.
City schedules emergency meeting
The Lake City Council will hold an emergency meeting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to declare a local state of emergency in advance of the storm. The meeting will be held in Council chambers at City Hall, 205 N. Marion Ave.
