AmeriPro has added units, reduced response times.
Emergency medical service response in Columbia County has improved in the past week.
The Columbia County Commission, though, is still interested in helping provide better service in the outlying rural areas of the county and want to see a detailed plan, including staffing cost, of doing that at its July 2 meeting. That plan also was desired by the Lake Shore Hospital Authority which was asked last week by county officials to consider purchasing three ambulances to help cover those areas in the northern and southern parts of the county.
“I’ve got some families up way north and they deserve the same kind of treatment as the families on the urban side,” Commissioner Kevin Parnell said. “The rural side, we can’t forget about them by any means.”
