So far, so good when it comes to administering the covid-19 vaccine locally. Columbia County Health Department officials and staff inoculated 1,167 senior citizens this week with the Moderna covid-19 vaccine.

WASHINGTON — A violent mob loyal to President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday and forced lawmakers into hiding, in a stunning attempt to overturn America’s presidential election, undercut the nation’s democracy and keep Democrat Joe Biden from replacing Trump in the White House.

One killed in New Year’s incident

A Live Oak man was killed early New Year’s morning when he was hit by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 90. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an SUV hit a 25-year-old man while he was in the middle of the roadway on U.S. 90 near the Columbia County and Suwannee County line at 2:44 a.m. Friday.

A shot in the arm: Health department eager to start administering vaccine

They’re making a list (and they’ll probably check it more than twice.) The health departments in Columbia and Hamilton counties will begin administering covid-19 vaccines to residents, 65 years and older, on Monday. The Suwannee County Health Department will begin providing the vaccine Tuesday.
