Representatives from Puzzle Pieces of North Florida presented a check for $5,000 to the Columbia High School Band on Thursday afternoon to help the band in its efforts to purchase new drums and other equipment of the percussion section.

County: $8M sewage plant funding ‘hole’

The cost of wastewater at the North Florida Mega Industrial Park continues to go up. At Tuesday’s Columbia County Commission meeting, County Manager David Kraus informed the board that the construction manager at risk on the wastewater treatment plant — Wharton-Smith, Inc.

Repeated 911 calls end in arrest

After five 911 calls on Saturday, a Lake City man was arrested after his neighbors also began calling for help. A Lake City Police Department report released Tuesday states that Michael Davis, 35, called 911 around 7:30 p.m.

CCSO investigating discovery of human remains

The investigation into human remains discovered near the Baker County line continues. Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a wooded area along SE County Line Road around 4:15 p.m. Monday after remains were discovered by a person walking in the area.
