The main branch of the Columbia County Public Library is getting a temporary makeover. According to one library employee, the new decorations make the building feel warmer in more ways than one.

A local teen is actively starting to explore his role in entrepreneurship. To hear him tell it, it’s just the beginning of a bright future. Maceon Sheppard, a 16-year-old Columbia High School junior, founded Kings Kloset back in July 2022.

An alleged two-year insurance scam has a Lake City agent facing felony charges. According to a Department of Financial Services report, Steffanie Norris, 42, used fake addresses for clients to get lower insurance premiums through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services marketplace from Jan.

A custom-prepared meal, along with a night of watching characters search for lost treasure, will be featured as this year’s dinner theatre event at Columbia High School. The production, “Night at the Wax Museum,” will take place Feb. 3-4.

A century ago, a group of community-orientated businessmen, led by attorney Fred P. Cone, the future governor of Florida, met in the Blanche Hotel and formed the Rotary Club of Lake City.
