Columbia County officials are already gearing up for next year’s Florida legislative session by pinpointing local projects they hope to get funded. The local leaders plan to present their proposal to Sen. Jennifer Bradley (R-Fleming Island) and Rep.

A Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program location will be open in Columbia County through Saturday. The site, which will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday, will be located at the Florida Gateway Fairgrounds, 164 SW Mary Ethel Lane in Lake City.

Second teen arrested in child’s murder

A second teenage murder suspect was arrested Wednesday after moving to Miami Gardens since the August shooting of a 12-year-old girl. Jayden Tyler Burch, 15, was arrested Wednesday for his role in the murder of 12-year-old Mariah Smith.
