Suspect found in second manhunt

The second time wasn’t the charm for a Columbia County burglary suspect. Five days after escaping capture following a burglary near State Road 47 and County Road 240, 36-year-old Scott Salanci Jr. was captured Tuesday morning.

Public pool getting solar upgrade

Summer Youth Program, work ethic celebrated

While there are several weeks remaining in the summer of 2023, for a group of local students, the summer reached its pinnacle Friday afternoon when they were the stars of the Summer Youth Employment Program Awards Luncheon.

Collins set to go on tour

A Lake City-born and raised country star is ready to hit the road for a tour. Karley Scott Collins, who is set to perform in the Suwannee River Jam’s return in September, announced the move Friday afternoon on social media.

Children cool off with treat at Museum

Beating the summertime heat took on an interesting twist for close to 20 youngsters on Thursday afternoon when they were introduced to ice cream in a bag. The children were introduced to the concept during a summer session at the Lake City-Columbia County Historical Museum.

Gallery, Altrusa combine over the ‘art’ of reading

The muffled crinkles of magazine paper echoed through the small back room of the Gateway Art Gallery as five children cut out pictures of favorites: favorite places, foods, animals, anything that a group of kids would have opinions on.
