District prepares suit over CHS track

Food service dishes out ‘special treat’

The National School Lunch Week took on an active twist for local elementary students in the past few days. Employees from the school district’s food service office donned food-themed costumes the past few days and visited area elementary schools promoting healthy food choices.

Local children are getting a crash course in the importance in fire safety and fire prevention.

D-SNAP site opening in Lake City

A Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program location will be open in Columbia County through Saturday. The site, which will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday, will be located at the Florida Gateway Fairgrounds, 164 SW Mary Ethel Lane in Lake City.

Second teen arrested in child’s murder

A second teenage murder suspect was arrested Wednesday after moving to Miami Gardens since the August shooting of a 12-year-old girl. Jayden Tyler Burch, 15, was arrested Wednesday for his role in the murder of 12-year-old Mariah Smith.
