The Lake City Council is finally back to full strength. James Carter, who was serving as a member on the city’s Planning and Zoning Board, was officially sworn into service as the District 13 representative in a special called meeting Monday. The motion to install Carter passed unanimously.

Council decorum debated at workshop

A city workshop based on decorum instead drew ire Monday night. The Lake City Council reviewed issues of meeting room decorum at Monday’s workshop, with conversation sometimes veering off into unrelated topics.

Man shot, killed in his driveway

A Lake City man was shot and killed in his driveway Monday night in the northwest part of Lake City. According to the Lake City Police Department, 23-year-old Christopher Alid Cruz Aleman, was shot around 9:50 p.m. Monday.

Teen charged with molesting minor

A Lake City teen is in custody after allegedly molesting a child Saturday. According to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office report, a father returned to a residence on NE Colvin Avenue to a witness telling him that he saw 19-year-old Collin Russell touch his penis to a girl’s private parts.

Three busted for stealing pickup truck

Three men were arrested early Monday morning after using a master key to steal a pickup in northern Columbia County and then fleeing from authorities on Interstate 10. A Columbia County Sheriff’s Office report states a victim reported their Dodge pickup stolen around 2:20 a.m.
