Lake City man killed in single vehicle crash

A Lake City man was killed Thursday afternoon in a single vehicle crash. According to a Florida Highway Patrol release, a 60-year-old man was traveling north on Turner Avenue when his car left the roadway near NW Park Drive at 1:31 p.m. Thursday and struck a tree head-on.

County to Fort White: Are you in or out on utilities?

The rocky relationship between the Town of Fort White and Columbia County hit another bump during Thursday’s County Commission meeting.

County implementing traffic impact fees

The Columbia County Commission provided a green light on impact fees to help with transportation infrastructure moving forward. Assistant County Manager Kevin Kirby presented a traffic impact study performed in 2007 to the board during its Thursday meeting.

Attempted kidnapping at bus station thwarted

A homeless man was arrested Friday morning after attempting to kidnap a child from a bus at the Greyhound station. According to the Lake City Police Department, a victim was attempting to exit the bus at the Lake City station on S. Marion Avenue at 9:15 a.m.

Lake City’s newest bank building is just about ready to start welcoming in new and existing clients. Radiant Credit Union’s Lake City branch will shift its operations ever so slightly across the street from its current location at 1659 W. U.S. Highway 90 to 1688 W. U.S.

World will be displayed at Multicultural Fiesta

Slices of life from around the globe such as music, food, dance, fun and crafts that settled in Lake City, will be featured this weekend as the city hosts its a Multicultural Fiesta. The event will take place from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
