Herrick continues to celebrate his ‘second life’

Safety concerns close historic site

The Club House on Lake Isabella, a historic building utilized by the Garden Club and Lake City Woman’s Club, has been closed due to safety concerns.

CHS JROTC takes aim at archery program

Nearly 50 years after Columbia High School began its Army JROTC program, the school is starting up another outlet for cadets. The CHS archery team is officially off the ground with its inaugural class of 12 cadets.

Kraus’ work pleases commission

David Kraus is getting better as Columbia County’s manager, at least according to the county commissioners. The commissioners, per the county charter, have to evaluate Kraus’ performance at its first May meeting annually.

LCPD collects 90 pounds in Drug Take Back event

The Lake City Police Department’s participation in the national Drug Take Back Day was a success Saturday. During the local event, 90 pounds of prescription medications were collected, according to an LCPD release.

Parade of Homes draws near-record turnout

The expansion of the Parade of Homes into another county was greeted by near record crowds this past weekend.

Catholic Charities and the Florida Gateway Food Bank dished out an award to Columbia High students this week.

FGC hosting graduations on Friday

Florida Gateway College is holding a pair of graduation ceremonies Friday. The college’s spring commencement ceremonies are set for 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Howard Center on the FGC campus, 149 SE College Place.
