Conference helps CHS students build toward career

From installing solar panels, learning the ins and outs of installing a fire hydrant/fire suppression system as well as observing other trends in the building and construction industry, a group of Columbia High School students were the beneficiaries of an industry leadership conference last month.

NorthStar, RCC hosting Family Fun Day

Local families are being invited out for a day of food, games and fun to kick off the beginning of summer. NorthStar Family Resource Center, in partnership with the Richardson Community Center, is set to host its 2024 Family Fun Day. The festivities will begin on Saturday, May 25, at 9 a.m.

Dead body found near CCS office; suicide suspected

Foul play is not suspected in a body found near the Columbia County School District administrative complex Tuesday. Lake City police officers responded to private property on SW St. Johns Street behind the district board office and adjacent to the Jared Allison Aquatic Complex around 11 a.m.

Honoring fallen heroes: Families, agencies gather for annual ceremony

Council votes to hide own raises

Lake City Councilors may not have to face public scrutiny regarding pay raises for themselves after all. During its Monday meeting, the Lake City Council voted against an ordinance that would’ve made future pay raises for the council require a resolution that would include public comment.

Flags line SR 47 for heroes

The sacrifices and achievements of local veterans were honored Saturday morning when a group of nearly 30 volunteers added more than 200 American flags and crosses along a portion of State Road 47.

Council OKs manager contract offer

After several years of turmoil and turnover in the City Manager position, the Lake City Council hopes it has finally found its long-term solution.

Nearly 400 persevered, graduating from CHS

The pinnacle of high school is graduation and nearly 400 Columbia High School students are at the cusp of seeing their past 13 years of school-related activities culminate into a grand graduation ceremony. The 2024 CHS commencement exercises will take place 8 p.m. Friday at Tiger Stadium.
