Making her Opry debut: Collins will play on legendary stage June 26

Lake City singer/songwriter Karley Scott Collins earned another country music milestone over the weekend when she was invited to perform onstage at the Grand Ole Opry later this month.

LSHA offering $120K for parking lot

The months-long process of getting a new tenant to the Lake Shore Hospital campus will go on at least a bit longer. Now, however, the Lake Shore Hospital Authority hopes it has found a solution to one of its biggest roadblocks.

Hit and run ends with attempted murder charge

A Lake City woman was arrested Saturday morning after running down a victim in her car. According to a Lake City Police Department release, officers responded to the corner of South Marion Avenue and SW Crescent Street at 8:57 a.m.

Double shooting, standoff lead to arrest

After a lengthy standout Saturday night and into Sunday morning, authorities took a Lake City man into custody on attempted murder charges. According to a Lake City Police Department release, officers responded to a NW Wilson Street residence around 8 p.m. Saturday to the reports of a shooting.

Sheriff candidates continue to fill coffers

Money continues to pour in to the races for sheriff in both Columbia and Suwannee counties. According to the latest campaign finance reports filed Monday with the Columbia County Supervisor of Elections office, Sheriff Mark Hunter has raised $88,755 in his campaign for re-election so far.

Columbia EMS wants station on Lake Shore campus

After winning a contract bid with Columbia County, an EMS company is looking to utilize space on the Lake Shore Hospital Authority  campus.

CCS gets final price tag on new Niblack

The Columbia County School District has a final price tag number for construction of the new Niblack Elementary School. During its Tuesday meeting, the Columbia County  School Board unanimously approved the Guaranteed Maximum Price for Niblack’s construction.
