BASEBALL

— Dixie County 5, Branford 0: Gavin Barnes allowed four runs — one earned — on four hits as the Buccaneers (8-13) fell to the Bears (10-9) on the road Thursday. BHS was held to five hits.

— Lafayette 4, Taylor County 2: Trevor Mares hit a 3-RBI double and Brayden Richardson also had an RBI to lead the Class 1A No. 2 Hornets (18-2) past the Bulldogs (8-12) on the road for their sixth straight win on Thursday. Richardson also pitched a complete-game one-hitter, walking just two and striking out six while allowing two unearned runs in the seventh inning.

Lafayette 11, Hamilton County 2: Trevor Mares had two RBIs while Brayden Richardson, Trevor Byrd, Kagan Hewett, Lathan Garrard, and Garrett Taylor each drove in a run to lead the Hornets (19-2) past the Trojans (2-17) on the road for their seventh straight win. Evan Buchanan pitched four innings for the win, allowing two runs — one earned — on three hits and three walks. Hyatt Richardson pitched three scoreless innings in relief, striking out seven.

SOFTBALL

­ — Fort White 15, Dixie County 2: Kadence Compton went 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs, and Carly Caines went 3 for 4 with two triples, a double and three RBIs to lead the Class 1A No. 2 Indians (11-4) to a run-rule win over the Bears (3-16) in six innings on the road Thursday. N’Coreyia Atkins also had three RBIs on a 2-for-4 night that included two doubles, while Aljerneria Stephens, Gracie Clemons and Hannah LeBleu each drove in a run. Compton pitched four innings for the win, allowing two unearned runs on one hit and two walks while striking out nine.

— Lafayette 6, Suwannee 4: Emma Revels went 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs, while Brooke Lamb, Miley McCray and Clara Knight each drove in a run to help the Hornets (9-15) top the Bulldogs (14-10) on the road to snap a five-game skid Thursday. Ella McAdams also finished 3 for 4 and scored twice. Khloe Crotts pitched three innings for the win in relief, allowing no runs, hits or walks.

— Branford 4, Bradford 1: Ellie Frierson drove in two runs and Alex Whitefield drove in another as the Class 1A No. 4 Buccaneers (19-6) beat the Tornadoes (7-16) at home Thursday. Laila Arnold limited Bradford to an unearned run on nine hits and two walks in a complete-game performance where she struck out seven.
