A Lake City woman and her passenger died after she drove off the road early Saturday. The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.

According to the FHP statement, Amanda Petty Brown, 45, of Lake City, was traveling south on State Road 47 in a 2019 Chevy Camaro at 3:35 a.m. Saturday when she failed to negotiate a left curve. Brown traveled into the ditch just off the west shoulder and began overturning. The Camaro ultimately collided with a power pole, coming to rest in the wood line, just off the shoulder on SR 47 and just south of SW Doublerly Court in Lake City. Her passenger was Deztiney Ray Prevatt, 22, of Lake Park, Georgia. Both Brown  and Prevatt were pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither Brown or Prevatt were wearing a seatbelt, and it is unknown at this time whether alcohol played a role in the crash.

An earlier report from the FHP did not indicate there was a passenger in the car.
