MIAMI — Firefighters on Friday declared the end of their search for bodies at the site of a collapsed Florida condo building, concluding a month of painstaking work removing layers of dangerous debris that were once piled several stories high.

ALACHUA — A 39-year-old O’Brien man was killed and his 59-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries when the driver lost control, ran off the road and the vehicle overturned, authorities said. The crash occurred 5:09 p.m. Wednesday near Northwest US Highway 441 and Northwest 104th Terrace.

MAYO — Gathered to watch illegal cockfighting last week, the crowd instead became sitting ducks. Thirty people — including one juvenile — were arrested last week when investigators busted a rural North Florida cockfighting ring, the Florida Department of Agriculture announced Tuesday.
