Branford Gathering closed after late-night rooftop blaze

BRANFORD — A long-time Branford fixture will be closed for the foreseeable future. The Gathering Cafe, located on Suwannee Avenue, caught fire Wednesday night with Suwannee County Fire Rescue and Branford Volunteer Fire Department responding around 10:45 p.m.

Supreme Court halts covid-19 vaccine rule for U.S. businesses

WASHINGTON  — The Supreme Court has stopped a major push by the Biden administration to boost the nation’s covid-19 vaccination rate, a requirement that employees at large businesses get a vaccine or test regularly and wear a mask on the job.

Suwannee schools offer evening help

LIVE OAK — The Suwannee County School District is looking to help parents and students make the grade, even after hours. The District Resource Center, 305 Pinewood Drive SW, will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. on school days through May 13.

‘Free state’ of Florida: DeSantis touts freedom, decries covid mandates
