LIVE OAK — The Disaster Recovery Center in Suwannee County is closing tonight.
According to a FEMA release Tuesday, the disaster center at the Suwannee County Coliseum will close for good at 7 p.m. today.
The centers provide survivors of disasters with information from state agencies, FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Those who visit the centers can receive assistance with applying for federal assistance and disaster loans, update applications or learn about other available resources.
Residents do not have to go to a center in their county. They may visit any open center.
There also also DRCs located in Lake City at the old Lake City Reporter building, 180 E. Duval Street; in Jasper at the Hamilton County Courthouse Annex, 1153 U.S. Highway 41 NW; and in Mayo at the Mayo Community Center, 150 NW Community Circle. The Columbia County and Hamilton County centers are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The Lafayette County site is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
It also is not necessary to visit a center. Those impacted can apply by calling 800-621-3362, going online at disasterassistance.gov, or using the FEMA mobile app. The line is open every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
