Those who have recovered from covid-19 may be able to help those suffering from the virus.

At least, that’s what LifeSouth is hoping for.

LifeSouth is partnering with medical centers in Florida, Georgia and Alabama to help aid recovery of covid-19. The aim is to collect plasma from people who have overcome the virus and transfuse it to patients with covid-19.

Recovered patients who were tested and found positive can donate plasma as long as they haven’t had symptoms for at least 14 days and they test negative by a lab. No follow-up testing is required if the person has gone 28 days without symptoms.

The plasma contains antibodies that could help fight the virus.
