LIVE OAK — An officer-involved shooting at the Live Oak Busy Bee on Tuesday ended with one person dead.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol release late Tuesday night, an FHP trooper was involved in a shooting at the gas station north of the Interstate 10 and U.S. Highway 129 intersection just before 5:30 p.m.

The male suspect involved in the shooting, which occurred at the commercial truck fueling pumps on the north side of the store, was killed in the incident. His identity has not been released.

The trooper was not injured.

Lt. Pat Riordan, an FHP spokesman, said he was not aware of any other injuries in the incident. The Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office in a release earlier Tuesday said no bystanders or law enforcement officers were injured.

Riordan said he did not know what events led to the shooting.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident and the trooper, whose identity has also not been released, has been placed on non-disciplinary administrative leave pursuant to FHP policy.

Due to the ongoing investigation, FHP released no additional information.
