JASPER — A car driving the wrong way on Interstate 75 on Sunday morning led to a fatal, head-on crash.

A Florida Highway Patrol report states that a 2016 Chrysler 200, driven by a 22-year-old Lake Park, Georgia, man, was traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-75 on Sunday around 4:30 a.m.

Driving the wrong way, the sedan collided head-on with a 2019 Honda SUV around mile marker 455 in between the U.S. Highway 129 and State Road 6 exits.

A passenger in the SUV, a 26-year-old Orange Park man, died in the crash. The SUV driver, a 25-year-old Kingston, New York, woman, suffered serious injuries.

The Georgia man suffered just minor injuries.

The FHP report doesn’t state why the sedan was driving the wrong way on the interstate.
