A Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program location is opening this weekend in Suwannee County.

The site, which will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday, will be located at Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative, 11340 100th Street in Live Oak.

The location, which is for Suwannee, Hamilton and Lafayette counties. was announced Friday by Department of Children and Families Secretary Shevan Harris.

At the D-SNAP location, applicants will be able to complete in-person interviews. The program offers food assistance to Florida residents impacted by Hurricane Idalia who are not already receiving food assistance benefits through the regular Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Individuals who work or live in Suwannee, Hamilton and Lafayette counties and pre-registered for the assistance online but haven’t completed their phone interview for the program can visit for the in-person interview. If someone has already completed a phone interview, an in-person interview is not required.

Registration for the program will be reopened for people who did not pre-register online. That online registration will be available today through Saturday at www.myflfamilies.com/DSNAP. Registration should be completed prior to arriving for an interview.

D-SNAP locations will be opened in each county approved for the program. Those locations and dates will be announced as they open. D-SNAP is not available at Disaster Recovery Centers or DCF’s Family Resource Support Centers.
