A Lake City man faces attempted murder charges after a verbal argument escalated Monday morning.

According to a Lake City Police Department release, 36-year-old Ryan Paul McCartney, who is still at large, threw a pitchfork at a victim on NW Palm Drive following the argument Monday around 8:25 a.m.

McCartney fled on foot. According to LCPD, he is considered dangerous and should not be approached. A warrant for his arrest was issued by a judge for attempted second degree murder.

Anyone with information on McCartney’s whereabouts should contact 911 or their local law enforcement agency. Information regarding the incident Monday can be reported to Investigator Poteat with the LCPD at 386-752-4343.

When officers responded to NW Palm Drive on Monday, they found a 49-year-old victim with multiple stab wounds to the head and neck. Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived and transported the victim to a trauma unit.

The victim and other witnesses told officers that McCartney threw a pitchfork at the victim after getting upset.
