One Lake City man was not dog’s best friend.
According to the Lake City Police Department, 23-year-old Jeremy Brock drowned his ex-girlfriend’s dog in a bathtub Wednesday afternoon.
When the current person residing at a house on SW Poplar Lane returned home Wednesday, they found the dog dead in the bathtub with a leash wrapped tightly around its neck, according to an LCPD release.
Brock, who had previously lived at the residence, had sent threatening messages to his ex-girlfriend, who also lived there. In the messages, Brock threatened to kill the dog, who continued to stay at the home while the ex-girlfriend was moving.
Brock, who was charged with willful torture and intentional death of an animal, told officers that he drowned the dog by placing the dog in the tub and then placing a wet pillow over its head. With the dog covered, Brock applied force with a laundry basket, the release states.
