Senior Salute: “What I will miss most about track and field is the hype and my team. I loved looking forward to going to practice when the school day ended. It’s so fun being part of a team knowing that your teammates have your back. I miss practicing so much. I know that sounds weird, but when you’r running for fun but have a purpose behind it, you really miss it, I’m telling you. My senior season was really robbed from me. I wanted to do so many more meets and didn’t even get the chance and it wasn’t my fault.”

Looking ahead: “My plans for the future are to try my hardest to make it to the Olympics and make it big. I know everyone tells me to have a backup just in case it doesn’t work out for me, but as of now, that is my number one main goal — focus graduating college (at UCF) and make it into the olympics and I know I can do it ... “She believed she could so she did.” That’s the quote I keep in my head all the time because when no one else believes in you, you have to do that for yourself.”

Asherah Collins was the last Senior Salute submitted to the Lake City Reporter, but she doesn’t have to be the last.
