CITRA — Kyler Watson, Dillon Greene, Gabe Garcia and Kase Nickerson combined for 10 strikeouts and a two-hitter to lead Suwannee to a 5-1 road win over North Marion on Friday night.
That quartet also scattered six walks, with Nickerson allowing the lone run in the sixth inning after the Bulldogs (2-0) had taken a 2-0 lead. Jace Moran, Koy Frier, Grayson Bonds and Garcia all had an RBI in the win, which saw Suwannee score four of its five runs off reliever Maddox Roberts.
Trenton Ramsey suffered the loss for the Colts (2-1) despite not giving up a hit in three innings. He allowed an unearned run in the third inning and was pulled following the inning after he had walked four and struck out seven.
Three of the four runs against Maddox were earned, with three SHS scoring three runs in the sixth inning. He finished with four strikeouts in four innings.
BUCS CRUISE PAST RAIDERS
BRANFORD — Behind two RBIs apiece from Colby Beard and Jackson Skinner, Branford beat Crescent City 10-1 at home Friday night.
The Buccaneers (1-2) trailed 1-0 after three innings before tying the game in the fourth and then exploding for seven runs in the fifth. E’nalee Perry, Kyler Williamson, Patrick Williams and Holston Frazier each had an RBI in the win. Williamson finished 3 for 3 with a triple, while Williams also tripled and scored three runs on a 2-for-3 night.
Perry pitched the first three innings and struck out seven while allowing two hits and three walks, with the one run from the Raiders (0-2) unearned. Frazier went the rest of the way and only allowed a walk while striking out three over the final four frames.
