PREP ROUNDUP: Scores and stats for Friday's and Saturday’s baseball/softball games

Here are Friday's results for baseball and softball in the area:

BASEBALL

Columbia 3, North Florida Christian 2: The Tigers (4-1) rallied and scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning to edge the Eagles (3-2) for their fourth straight win. Matthew Dumas scored from second base with two outs when Hayden Gustavson delivered the game-winning RBI. Brent Howard and Branson Mann each had an RBI on the night as well, while Dumas went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and Howard scored the other. Gustavson got the win in relief, pitching the final three innings (four strikeouts, three hits) after Ty Floyd went the first four (two runs — both unearned — on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts).

Suwannee 8, Episcopal School of Jacksonville 5: Easton Kirby delivered the go-ahead RBI for the Bulldogs (3-1) to top the Eagles (2-3) in 10 innings in the road Friday night. Peyton Waters went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs, Kirby finished with two RBIs, Camdon Frier hit a solo home run, Carston Palmer had an RBI, and Matthew Gill also had an RBI as part of a 5-for-5 night. Tyson Robinson (six strikeouts), Josh Fernald (eight strikeouts) and Palmer (four strikeouts) combined to pitch 9 1/3 innings, with Robinson getting the win in three innings of work with two runs — one earned — on two hits and two walks.

Hamilton County 10, Branford 0: The Trojans (2-3) run-ruled the Buccaneers (2-1) in five innings at home Friday night in District 6-1A action.

SOFTBALL

Bradford 6, Suwannee 5: The Tornadoes (5-1) scored the game-winning run in the top of the eighth innings to beat the Bulldogs (1-4) in Live Oak on Friday night. Karis Smith pitched the whole game for Suwannee, giving up only two earned runs on 11 hits and three walks with 13 strikeouts. Smith also hit a 3-run home run, and Braylyn Federico had two RBIs on a 2-for-4 night.

Branford 17, Bronson 3: Behind a 13-run first inning, the Buccaneers (5-1) run-ruled the Eagles (2-3) in five innings on the road Friday night.

Buchholz 9, Columbia 5; Clay 6, Columbia 1: The Tigers (0-5) fell to the Bobcats (2-4) and the Blue Devils (3-1) on the first day of the Raider Invitational at Santa Fe High School on Friday. Sakiya Merriex had Columbia's only RBI against Buchholz on a 2-for-3 day, while McKenna O'Sullivan pitched 3 1/3 innings (four runs — two earned — on two hits and four walks with a pair of strikeouts) and Madelyn Jones pitched 1 1/3 innings (five runs — two earned — on three hits and three walks with a strikeout). Haley Cook had Columbia's lone RBI against Clay, while Jones pitched the whole game and gave up three earned runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

Northeast (St. Petersburg) 8, Columbia 0: The Tigers (0-6) dropped their finale at the Raider Invitational to the Vikings (4-3) on Saturday afternoon. Madelyn Jones pitched 3 1/3 innings, giving up five runs — one earned — on one hit and two walks with a strikeout. McKenna O'Sullivan pitched  2 1/3 innings, giving up three earned runs on two hits and three walks with a strikeout.
