PREP ROUNDUP: Scores and stats from 4/9/24

BASEBALL

— Suwannee 3, Madison County 1: Logan Brooks gave up an earned run on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in four innings, while Kyler Watson allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out five in three innings to help the Bulldogs (11-5-1) hold off the Cowboys (9-7) on the road. Koy Frier went 2 for 3 and had the lone RBI for SHS.

— Dixie County 11, Fort White 3: Kenton Haase allowed five runs — one e on two earned — on two hits and four walks with five strikeouts in five innings before Luis Ortiz and Aaron Parnell combined to give up six earned in the seventh as the Indians (9-9) fell to the Bears (7-7) at home. Ortiz went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Davic Kasper drove in a run in the loss.

— Lafayette 5, Branford 2: Trevor Byrd and Garrett Taylor each had two RBIs to lead the Class 1A No. 3 Hornets (14-2) past the Buccaneers (6-9) on the road. Noah Lamb allowed an earned run on one hit and three walks in 5 2/3 innings while Evan Buchanan allowed an earned run on a hit in the final 1 1/3 innings, with Camden Gaskins and Tucker Floyd each recording an RBI for BHS. Gavin Barnes allowed all five runs to LHS — four earned — on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

SOFTBALL

— Suwannee 3, Madison County 2: Gracie Watley pitched five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out eight, while Rachel Smith gave up two runs — one earned — on four hits and three walks as the Bulldogs (9-8) edged the Cowgirls (8-9) on the road in eight innings.

— Aucilla Christian 7, Lafayette 0: Clara Knight allowed three runs — one earned — on seven hits and a walk, while Emma Revels gave up four runs — one earned — on two hits and three walks as the Hornets (8-12) were shut out by the Warriors (5-6) at home.

FLAG FOOTBALL

— District 3-1A semifinals: Top-seeded Suwannee shut out No. 4 Madison County 33-0 while No. 3 seed Columbia edged No. 2 seed Jefferson County 15-13 at Langford Stadium. The Bulldogs (11-2) and Tigers (3-6) will meet Wednesday for the district championship.
