Columbia’s softball team finished runner-up at Santa Fe’s Raider Invitational on Saturday, falling to Williston 4-2 in the championship.

Friday saw the Tigers (6-1) beat Lake Gibson 8-0 and Lafayette 8-2 on Friday in the seeding games. Columbia didn’t play a third game on Saturday due to some field issues, going straight to the championship instead.

In addition to losing to Columbia, Lafayette (1-6) also lost to Santa Fe 4-2 on Friday and then Bell 7-5 on Saturday.

TRACK & FIELD

Columbia competed in the Bolles Bulldog Classic on Friday, led by Seth Stockton winning the triple jump with a leap of 14.36m and Trevis Johnson winning the 100m dash with a time of 10.91 seconds.

Johnson also placed fourth in the 400m run with a time of 49.46 and Kaden McKire took fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.59m. Also scoring for boy the was the 4x800 relay team of Jose Rodriguez, Jacob McLeod, Nathan Mueller and Nathan Matsubara, who placed sixth in a time of 9:08.23.

Leading the girls individually was Kyndall Norris, who scored for Columbia in the javelin with a throw of 23.71m to finish in eighth place. The girls 4x400 team of Abigail Candler, Omari Foster, J'Liyn Smith and Sarah Simpson also scored, finishing sixth with a time of 4:24.47.

BASEBALL

— Baldwin County (Ala.) 6, Suwannee 1: Noah Lopez had an RBI single to put the Bulldogs (1-3) up 1-0 in the third inning, but the Tigers (8-3) answered with four runs in the fourth and two in the fifth for the win Saturday afternoon. Ethan Layton suffered the loss on the mound, allowing four runs — two earned — on just one hit and one walk in two innings. The Bulldogs lost despite Logan Brooks, Easton Kirby and Layton combining for a two-hitter in six innings because the Tigers threw a one-hitter.

FLAG FOOTBALL

— Mandarin 13, Suwannee 6: The Bulldogs (1-1) fell behind 13-0 at halftime and couldn’t rally in the second half against the Mustangs (1-1) on the road Friday night. Quarterback Maci Campbell completed 8 of 14 passes and threw two interceptions while rushing for 46 yards on nine carries with a touchdown run. Suwannee’s defense forced three turnovers, with Hannah Humphries picking off one pass and Torlanedr’ia Ross intercepting another. Jessica Tran also had a sack.
